*SEVENS! Bible commentators will point out that there’s the use of seven at play here (the number of perfection), or multiples of seven in the original Hebrew. The first verse is seven words, followed by 14 words in verse 2. The seventh paragraph has 3 sentences of 7 words each with the phrase ‘the seventh day’ in the middle of each sentence.

***Bioethicist Peter Singer thinks animals should have the same rights as humans:
“Those who protest against abortion but dine regularly on chickens, pigs and calves only show a bias for their own species… a fish shows more signs of consciousness than an infant.”
Therefore, in Singer’s view – termination is a viable option – even beyond birth. Or at the other end of life with the elderly – put them out of their misery, they’re not that important. Singer was once interviewed and asked why, after writing all this and arguing a case for euthanasia, he still cared for his elderly mother in a home. He said, “it’s different when it’s your mum.” His is an utterly misguided view of human life.
